Installation Report: Accessory Outlet Flashlight
Project Description
This is one of those really simple and cheap accessories which is priceless when
you need it, which for me has been at least once a week. I was skeptical of
the quality at first but it is a top notch unit with a metal body, internal
rechargeable battery, concealed on/off switch, and pretty bright beam considering the size.

Parts & Cost
- Found this for just $7.94 in the Walmart automotive aisle. I tossed the package
out after opening it though so if someone buys this then please send me the UPC code or
brand name / model number and I will post it here.
Tools
(just the major items, not a complete list)
- None
Install Process
- Just plug it in to any accessory outlet. I used the one inside the
center console so it is always in reach.
- Let it charge up overnight for the first charge then you can keep it
in the socket all the time but pull it out about 1/4" so the tip does not stay connected,
thus it won't keep charging but will be held in place for you whenever you need
it.
- After the battery gets low, which is rare since the LEDs use very little
power, simply push it all the way into the outlet and let it
charge up overnight again.
Total Time: ~2 minutes
Comments
- Stiff: At first the flashlight was very stiff when being
inserted
into the accessory socket. After a few weeks of constant use it now
goes in just fine but still stays snug while charging.
- Little Button: The on/off switch is tiny so watch which way
you face it. It is easy to bump when inserting gear in the center
console so make sure the switch is facing up towards the lid or towards
the nearest side wall.
- Use In Place: This is also handy if you haven't already
installed a center console light like my other mod. Just hit the
power button and leave it in the socket while you raid the center console at
night. No need to turn on the overhead lights.
- Cool & Long: Because this uses LED lights it will stay very
cool and last quite a while on a single charge. Great for night time
map reading, night fishing, camping, checking under the hood, etc.
